The only resistivity and IP surveying system you need
Flexible, easy to use and boasting a number of innovative features the ABEM Terrameter LS 2 is the ideal partner for geotechnical, groundwater, mineral or environmental surveys and research work. Whether it is repeated autonomous monitoring across an electrode layout of hundreds of metres or a one-off measurement on centimetre-spaced pins in a laboratory model, the Terrameter LS 2 can do it all.
One of the oldest applications for electrical resistivity which is not limited to just detecting water but is able to differentiate between fresh, brackish and saline deposits, monitor drawdown and recharge of an aquifer, or simply estimate its extents by surveying across a landscape. The addition of chargeability data from the Induced Polarization (IP) method can further differentiate between clay and water which have similar resistivity values associated with them. The SAS Log accessory allows further refinements of hydrological models with borehole resistivity logging.
Geological mapping
The Terrameter LS 2 can fulfil a wide range of activities in the engineering world such as determining depth to bedrock, making an assessment of bedrock strength, mapping pollution plumes, monitoring dams and embankments for seepage, looking for potential slip planes, mapping voids and locating large deep infrastructure that might be beyond the reach of GPR.
Mineral exploration
Rapid recording of both resistivity and IP data, and the option to make SP (spontaneous potential) measurements, makes the ABEM Terrameter LS 2 well-suited to near-surface mineral prospection. A large number of mineral ores generate significant resistivity and IP responses which allows for a more complete picture than drilling alone.
The Terrameter LS 2 is the first instrument to benefit from ABEM Active Guidance. In this first generation of the feature, a single press of the guidance button will detect the active page, menu item or command and bring up relevant information. The Active Guidance aims to be much more than a simple “help” function; it is there to provide tips and suggestions from our experienced technical staff, as well as helping you avoid common mistakes. It is like having one of our Application Engineers by your side at every step of your survey, and is another example of Guideline Geo’s commitment to being your guide to the subsurface.

Outstanding Data Quality
Class-leading resolution comes from every measurement channel having a dedicated 24-bit digitiser, which then auto selects the best of 3 voltage ranges, allowing both large and small signals to be recorded without clipping or loss of resolution. The electrical isolation between all channels reducesinterference from strong signals‘polluting’any weaker responses on adjacent channels. In addition, the Terrameter LS 2 features our unique 100% duty cycle IP measurement mode, whichcan provide better quality chargeability data. This mode extracts IP effects from the current switch-over rather than switch-off period, providing a larger measurable effect and faster measurements, thus allowing time for more stacks to further improve signal-to-noise ratios.

Language Support
The ABEM Terrameters have been making resistivity surveys more user-friendly and intuitive for many years.
The ABEM Terrameter now supports:
Tailor the system to fit your survey needs and remotely upgrade the specification if those needs change
TheABEM Terrameter LS 2 resistivity meter offers anunrivaled hardware licensing system where the system specification is controlled by a license code. Choose the specification to meet your current needs and budget andbe assured that if your needs change in the future, an upgrade of the specifications is just an internet connection away. License upgrades can be accessed via our online license server or emailed directly to your inbox for transfer to the instrument by USB.The Terrameter family of products are capable of resistivity, IP and SP measurements byVES, imaging, or profiling on land, in water or via boreholes utilising spreads of 16,000+ electrodes if necessary.
Remote Connectivity
Operate, upgrade, downloador test anywhere, at any time
Flexible remote connectivity allows you to run the instrument from any device via Wi-Fi, ethernet or a mobile connection either locally or through the internet. It also allows the ABEM support team to assist with support or troubleshootingwithout the need to return the instrument to a workshop. This unique feature ensures that the system is always up to date, operating correctly, with the risk of downtime kept to an absolute minimum.
A Rugged System Made For The Field
Designed and optimized for even the harshest of conditions
The robust anddurable aluminum casing meets IEC IP66 classification and allows for use in anywhere from -20°C to +70°C. Durable high specification connectors, a 6mm shatterproof glass screen and protective rubber bump strips ensure a reliable and tough system.
If the environment is unwelcoming, the 100% duty cycle IP mode, automated optimisation of the measurement protocols and up to 12 measurement channels means you’ll never be in the field longer than necessary – ensuring fast and precise resistivity and IP surveying.
Terrameter Breakout Box
Fully customize your resistivity connections
The Terrameter Breakout box provides the opportunity for totally customized electrode connections. With this rugged and weatherproof accessory, every electrode can be connected individually back to the instrument rather than using a multicore cable with multiple take-outs along its length.
This configuration can be useful for complex layouts, especially 3D grids of electrodes, laboratory modelling, or niche applications where larger cabling would be problematic or variable electrode spacing is required.
One Breakout Box would be used per multipin connector on a Terrameter LS, Terrameter LS 2 or external Electrode Selector (e.g. ES10-64C); the same box can be used for all models.
ABEM Power Adapter
Robust and stable power in the field
This powerful AC-DC adapter enables ABEM instruments to operate from a power network or a small ‘suitcase’-style generator, offering lightweight, extended power where battery recharging is challenging. Perfect for demanding field campaigns, the waterproof ABEM Power Adapter provides a clean and stable 12V DC supply in excess of 30A from a 110V/230V AC (50 or 60 Hz) source. It also suitable for monitoring and unattended applications with limited battery replacement options.
In addition to the main power output, a waterproof auxiliary connector provides 5V 2A and 12V 1A outputs for custom accessories, plus an “operation OK” signal for remote applications.
The ABEM Power Adapter comes in two versions: one for the original Terrameter LS and Terraloc Pro, and the other for the current Terrameter LS 2 and Terraloc Pro 2.
Terrameter ES10-64C Electrode Selector
Expand electrode capacity for greater flexibility
External electrode selectors allow for the creation of longer and (or) denser spreads of electrodes, useful for better resolution, deeper surveys or larger 3D layouts. Each ES10-64C has the capacity to address 64 electrodes and the units can be connected in series to further expand the electrode capacity. The maximum number of electrodes that can be controlled by a single Terrameter LS 2 is in excess of 16,000.
Terrameter Log 300
Integrated resistivity & IP logging
The ABEM Terrameter Log 300 is a plug-and-play borehole logging tool compatible with both the SAS and LS product ranges. It seamlessly adds borehole capability to existing resistivity systems in a robust, durable design for demanding fieldwork. Deployment is made easier with a backpack frame and an optional tripod.
